EZTalk5/65 — Map Feature Setup Guide

Update your radio to unlock the Map feature in the Retevis app.

Before you begin: The Map feature requires your radio to have the latest firmware and the latest Bluetooth version. When the Retevis app connects to your radio, it will check automatically. If an update is needed, you will see a prompt.

Step 1 — Update Bluetooth

Do this on your iPhone — no computer needed

If you already have the Retevis BT OTA app installed, skip ahead to the update steps below.

Tap the link below to open it in Safari. You will see Retevis BT OTA — tap "Accept" to get Retevis BT OTA app, then install it.

How to update with the Retevis BT OTA app:

  1. In the Retevis app, disconnect your radio first. This frees the radio so it can connect to the Retevis BT OTA app.
  2. Make sure your radio is turned on, then open the Retevis BT OTA app and connect your radio via Bluetooth.
  3. Tap the "Update" tab at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Tap "Upgrade" to begin the Bluetooth update.
  5. Wait for the update to finish. Keep your radio powered on and close to your phone.

Step 2 — Update Firmware

Requires a computer — Windows, Mac, or Linux
⚠️ All steps below must be done on a computer.
What You Will Need
  • · A computer (Windows, Mac, or Linux)
  • · The Radio Programming Cable
  • · The Retevis Firmware Upgrade Tool
  1. Install the programming cable driver:
    · Windows: Download and install the driver: Programming Cable Driver (Windows)
    · Mac: Open the App Store, search for "PL2303", and download the driver.
    · Linux: No driver needed.
  2. Download the Retevis Firmware Upgrade Tool: Firmware Upgrade Tool (Windows, Mac, Linux — .zip). Save the file on your computer, then open it to install.
  3. Connect your radio: Use the Radio Programming Cable to connect your radio to the computer. The radio must be powered off. Hold the PTT key and the side key together, then press the power button. When the indicator light turns green, the radio has entered flashing mode.
  4. Open the Firmware Upgrade Tool and select your model — EZTalk5/65.
  5. In the tool, select the correct port and firmware version, then start the upgrade.
  6. Wait for it to finish. Do not unplug or power off during the update.
💡 Tip: Make sure your radio is fully charged before starting the firmware update.

You're All Set!

Open the Retevis app, connect your radio, and the app will verify your versions. If both are up to date, the Map feature will be ready to use.
